Summer

Summer is in full swing
Songbirds stage a rap battle at 4 a.m.
Sun breaks through the blinds half an hour later

Gentle breeze barely noticeable
Goosebumps ripple skin
Growling you stretch next to me

Ice cream Sundaes fruity heaven
Intoxicating smells where ever you are
Ivy vines meander over the rockery

Lazy lizards sunbathing
Lightning bugs like nervous lanterns
Lady Luna lonesome at night

I hear the crickets in the cooling grass
Memory of the day’s heat tangible
I look up into the endless dome
Cathedrals don’t need to be made of stone

Grief

as opaque as the obsidian sea
and as deep

sometimes still
sometimes in waves

so massive, so strong they move the land

when grief holds reign

a tiny fishing boat
exposed to the elements
don’t try to steer
or you will capsize

I want to draw

Close up of pink orchid

I want to draw pictures with my words
I want to paint your world in colours you cannot see
I want to sing a song that speaks to your soul
I want to show you that there is beauty

There is hope
There is love
There is a tomorrow
There is worth in living

That you are worth it
That you belong
That you have a place
That you are connected
That you are strong

Poetry Challenge

Realistic Poetry just posted this challenge:

This was my response:

Prismic light–Strewn
Cluster of gems
Like limps
When we entangle
Light reflecting from surfaces
Like sun spots on our skin
Beauty in disarray

What would you write?

Come home

There is no wall
There is no fence
There is no border

If you want to come home
All you need to do
Is walk in the right direction

There is no anger
There is no disappointment
There is no hate
Just love

If you want to come home
All you need to do
Is follow your heart

The door is always open
Be brave
To find your own path

What future holds

You won’t know
What the future holds

How hopes and dreams
And fears unfold

Be brave take small steps
Or leap with bravado

Whichever way you go
This will be the right way for you

There is no wrong path
No expected timeline

All that matters
Is that you keep moving

Writer’s Block

Stories rushing to be told

An onslaught of words

A lingual congestion

Verbs at the verge

BUT NOTHING EMERGES!

It rains

The rain it raineth every day
It rains cookies at night
Kisses in the morning
Tears on a bad day
And cuddles supporting

The rain it raineth every day
It rains coffee on grey days
Chocolate for sads
Smiles every chance
And laughter as much as we can

The rain it raineth every day
It rains Schnitzel with noodles
Friendship in oodles
Happiness as we make it
And sweet smelling roses

It’s not quite there yet but I thought I share anyway

A child hiding within

He is dead inside
The poor boy
So you say
As if you would know
An army of zombies
From the living

We see no death in him
The sad boy
But you
Are another story
A life lost long ago

But must you spread death?
But must you spread hate?

Can you not see somewhere within
A scintilla of love?

Do you know how to love?
