Man from Another Time

Panting he stood on the platform
Red tongue nervously flicking over bloody burst lips
Gulping for air, for water, for life
His train gone
Taillights blinking out
Like his vanishing star

Things changed too much
People lost caring
Caring about borders, about othering
About rules
Chaos everywhere
He couldn’t cope
Hate burnt his heart, his soul
Muddled his mind
And now
Now his train left and he is stuck
In the land of plenty
With

No.
Way.
Out.

Echo

I am the sole bearer of my guidon

No other has the same colours

‘Each Man is an island.’

You say.

‘But the ocean connects you all.’

‘Wee dafty!’

I am walking alone lost in time and space
On the quest for my story

A voice from the wilderness calls
An echo rises from deep within
Answering the call
And the voice stops
No more echo pilot home

Home within
Home outwith
Where
When

Can you ever truly arrive?
Isn’t the point the journey?

‘I am an island’
You insist.
‘Then why do you hold a paddle?’

Binge watching ‘Dark’ on Netflix was probably not a good idea.

Outer Hebrides: The Lighthouse

The setting sun has painted pink highlights onto the clouds
As everything gets darker a bright dot on the horizon becomes more prominent

The dot

A tiny sign of hope
A reminder you are not lost
No matter how far out you paddled
In this tiny boat of yours

You are anchored
In entirety
Nowhere is still somewhere
If this is where you are right now

The Power of Words

Dancing girl
Please bear with me
Hear my plea
Hear my prayer

This pain is not yours to carry
This hate is not yours to keep
This war is not yours to fight
This anger is not yours to hold on to
Let go of pain, of hate, of war, and anger

You have your place
You have your land
You have your name
You belong
You are home

Earthen boy
Please bear with me
Hear my plea
Hear my prayer

This pain is not yours to carry
This hate is not yours to keep
This war is not yours to fight
This anger is not yours to hold on to
Let go of pain, of hate, of war, and anger

You have your place
You have your land
Your have your name
You belong
You are home
