Moments 03

Parapabambam
I‘m beating my drum
January may come

On the other side of Midnight

Raunacht Collection: Day 09

Time slowly drips into the new year.
Just another day laden with too much expectation.
Only last night we cheered the forward motion of the clock,
and wished one another well–for once
And took stock of time and people left behind,
on the other side of midnight.

Premonitions

Change
Change
Change
Change

Taiko drum vibrations
With increasing urgency
Staccato
Can you feel it?

Change
Change
Change

Is in the air
On the cusp off
The brink

Change
Change

Fear
Readiness might be lacking

Change

Tangible

Change
Change
Change
Change

Dense premonition
Like moisture laden air
My body hums
It’s coming

2021: Good Bye

Quietly, clandestinely Year tiptoed toward her end.
She is trying to sneak out after all the bad reviews.
She really tried hard, the best she could.
If she were honest she knew it wasn’t her fault.

The cards were stacked against her and all that,
she takes a sip of champagne and shakes her head.
She wished people were more understanding.
It’s not as if she could control what they do!

But hey I am getting blamed anyway! She sighs.
And Hogmanay?
Seriously!? Just a kick in the backside after all of this!
She grabs another glass of champagne on the way out the door.

I am not looking forward to join the annals!
At least I won’t stand out too much next to 2020!
With heavy heart she looks over her shoulder.
Nobody notices her sneaking out early.

What are a couple of days anyway?
Hangers on?
Everyone wanted closure already.
As if me leaving would change anything, Humans!

Silently Year closes the door again,
and reaches for her third glass.
The annals can wait a little longer.

Bloodmoon

Out there
Over night
While we sleep
The goddess is bleeding
Nurturing the new year
Wolfmoon too
The howl vibrates
Calling the hunters
Breath formed to ice
The hunt laborious
Snow is high
Garnet on white
Blood above
Blood below
The new year awakens

New Year’s Resolutions

Be gentle--with your self
Be loving
Be authentic

Cry when needs be
Laugh when you cannot hold back
Scream when you must
Smile when it wants to break free

But be
Just be
Just be

New year’s resolution

Caligraphic writing of the word be
Be

The night is drawing to a close

Walking into the night

The blanket of darkness

Hides what is to come

What is to be

In the new year

For now the curtains are closing

On the old year

Dust-sheets put on joy and grief

Memories filed away

A photo-album shut

The urge for the sunrise to come

A virgin day

An unwritten story

The promise of will be

The fear of what’s to come

Break free with the first rays of sunshine

And so it keeps turning

Said wheel

In the end there is beginning

As below so above

Year after year

Life after life

Until …

conclusions

on a year well lived
tears cried
fears fought
things learned

people met
people left
people loved
people hugged

puppies cuddled
birds watched
flowers smelled
books read
poems written

people hated
people forgiven
me forgiven
boundaries set

bicycles ridden
mountains climbed
defeat admitted
overcoming planned

dances in kitchen
children’s smiles
football in the park
sticky fingers in my face

letting go of pain
letting go of anger
letting go of fear
embraced darkness until the light came through

defining purpose
for now
loving life
loving love
so much love

and this poem list
runs out
out of space for everything that has no words
but made this year so
dark, colourful, light, loving, difficult, challenging, optimistic, opportune, and utterly, completely, beautifully livable

thank you
